"In Unity there is Strength."
An independent organisation with the ability to evaluate and collate data at a grass roots level, to provide a holistic model of educational support for schools and local authorities. Based on the success of the Great Minds model, the bespoke solution based approach delivers both practical and emotional support for children, young people and their families, whilst celebrating the individual localities, and ensuring consistent sharing of good practice. Currently working towards becoming the SEND Commissioner for England.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is about supporting the emotional wellbeing of any child or young person with special educational needs and disabilities, (SEND) or social, emotional and/ or mental health needs (SEMH) where this is affecting their education.
It is about supporting a generation of children and young people and understanding, exploring and explaining how a holistic model of educational support for schools and local authorities, as well as practical and emotional support for families will promote better outcomes for millions of children, young people and their families across the country.
It is about how schools, local authorities, health and other services can truly work together consistently, with parents and carers to harness the skills, abilities and resources available in local communities. To use the experts in their own areas, with pre-existing and forming of new relationships and support networks to create a truly integrated support system.
This independent, not for profit model will run with the knowledge and expertise of communities and without agenda other than to best serve the most vulnerable children and families in society.
It is no secret that there is a crisis within education for children and young people with special educational needs. The evidence provided by the Timpson Review and the damning conclusions from the more recent SEND inquiry which mirror very similar forewords of a SEND inquiry written almost a decade apart, all demonstrate without a shadow of doubt that families continue to struggle within the bureaucratic, convoluted and often exhausting systems that continue to fail generations of children. This is simply not acceptable.
It is a lesser known fact that there is a crisis within education for the increasing number of children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. Many of these children and young people do not meet relevant threshold or criteria for support services or intervention and where a plan of support is being considered, the assessment process can take many months and in some cases years.
It is our mission to bring people, organisations, schools and services together to ensure families no longer get lost in a system that sets many up to fail. It is our mission to bring this all together by harnessing excellent people and skills within local communities and matching them with the settings that need the most support.
It is our mission to provide a solution to the SEND crisis in the UK.
